FESTIVAL ON DEMOCRACY

Aimed at fostering, inculcating, sensitising, reiterating and thereby strengthening the values and ethos of democracy

‘Festival on Democracy’ was conceived marking the occassion of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Kerala Legislative Assembly. The Festival on Democracy includes a series of national level conclaves aimed at fostering, inculcating, sensitizing, reiterating and strengthening the values and ethos of democracy, as envisaged in the Constitution of India. Each of these conclaves are being held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala with a view to closely involve diverse sections of the society in this effort.

National Students' Parliament, Kerala - 2019

Power and Possibilities of Democracy and Politics (23/02/2019 to 25/02/2019)

The National Students’ Parliament, Kerala – 2019 aims to inculcate in youth a love for democratic values and the democratic way of life, and to instil a craving for democracy as a system, thought and vision. The focal points of discussion will cover faith and affinity towards politics and parliamentary democracy, plurality of thought, the essence and spirit of the Constitution, the need for ethics in public life, the vision of sustainable development and the emergence of an enlightened new world, through information gateways. This will be a mega-three day event with the participation of about 2000 students from various Universities within India. The National Students’ Parliament is proposed to be held from 23rd to 25th February 2019. The discussions will center around democracy, politics and the Constitution of India, and the Students’ Parliament aims to direct the power and possibilities of democracy and politics towards world peace and sustainable development.

The Six National Conclaves

Six National Level seminars are scheduled to be conducted as part of the “Festival on Democracy” by the Kerala Legislative Assembly.  The first one in the series named National Legislators Conference on the challenges in the empowerment of Scheduled castes and Scheduled Tribes in Independent India was conducted by the Kerala Legislative Assembly on 2018 August 6th and 7th the second named National Students’parliament, Kerala -2019 will held from 23rd to 25th February 2019 Kerala Legislature Complex.  The details of the series of conferences and key organizing committee is available here.
